Russell Westbrook, drama find each other again as he ties Oscar Robertson’s NBA record for career triple-doubles

If this were four years ago, the road fans would have given Russell Westbrook a standing ovation.

The scene Saturday evening, when Westbrook tied Oscar Robertson’s all-time triple-double record, was reminiscent of one in Denver during April 2017: “unbreakable” triple-double milestones on the line, game-winning points for a win and a game-saving play as time expired.

Westbrook has a way of finding drama. Or maybe the drama finds him. He finished Saturday’s victory, the Wizards’ 15th in 19 games, with 33 points, 19 rebounds and 15 assists for career triple-double No. 181.

History, once again.

“Every time I step on the floor, I feel like I give everything I have,” Westbrook said. “Along the journey, if history and things are made at that time, I’m super grateful and thankful for it.
