Rookie Tyrese Maxey saves the Sixers’ season: ‘Without Tyrese, we don’t win that game’


ATLANTA — Barely more than six minutes had gone by in Game 6 and the Sixers found themselves down to the Atlanta Hawks by double figures, on the road, in an elimination game. Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris had both picked up two early fouls and Joel Embiid was seemingly turning the ball over every other trip down the court.

They desperately needed to get a jolt from someone. That someone would turn out to be rookie Tyrese Maxey, who finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and an assist in 29 minutes of play.
