Ron Rivera expected to be named head coach of Redskins

Ron Rivera is one of the top head coaching candidates on the market this offseason, and he has decided to take on arguably the most challenging job.

Rivera is expected to be hired as the next head coach of the Washington Redskins, according to multiple reports. The team has also decided to part ways with president Bruce Allen.

Rivera is a huge hire for the Redskins, as many believed they would not be able to attract a big name given the current state of the franchise. However, owner Daniel Snyder was likely able to sell Rivera on the big changes that are being made, and it would not be surprised if he has been promised a big say in personnel decisions.

Rivera went 76-63-1 as Carolina’s head coach for eight-plus seasons, including a Super Bowl appearance. He won three straight NFC South titles at one point. Rivera beat out at least one other candidate that certainly would not have pleased Redskins fans if the team decided to hire him.
