Roger Federer slammed after retirement message to Australian radio host Alan Jones

“It’s been special to have you in my corner for so many of those big matches over the years. Congratulations on an unbelievable run on radio.”

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison added: “We’ve had one or two disagreements but you’ve always done the right thing by your country and we’re very proud of that.

However, Jones has a history of controversial statements throughout his career.

In August, Jones told Morrison to “shove a sock down” the throat of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and also called her “a joke, a fool and a lightweight” in a row over Australia’s climate change credentials.

Jones has also attacked former Australian prime minister Julia Gillard, claiming she should be “put into a chaff bag and thrown into the sea”.
