Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic GOAT debate is dumb – Andy Roddick

The ‘Big Three’ have unquestionably been the three best players of their era with Andy Murray making it a ‘Big Four’ for several years.

Federer is without a Grand Slam since January 2018, but he still holds onto the record for the most with 20.

The Swiss star also leads the all-time list for weeks as world No 1 with 310 but both records are under serious threat from Nadal and Djokovic.

Nadal has 19 major wins and had the French Open taken place in May before it was pushed back to September due to the coronavirus crisis, he would have been favourite to add another title to his collection.

Djokovic moved to 17 Grand Slams by virtue of his win at the Australian Open in February and made clear that Federer’s records are his two major aims for 2020.

The Serbian’s efforts will be temporarily delayed but at 32-years-old, he is in prime position to finish at the top of the pile.

However, Roddick has little time for the debate with so much tennis still to be played by the trio.

“And I’m either guessing or obviously I’m like a medical professional and can predict injuries from here on out.

“I just think we’re lucky to still have Novak, Roger and Rafa still in the game. Hopefully, Murray gets back into it.

“It is premature and I know everyone likes to go to this conversation non-stop but I just think it is too early.

“And there is too much wasted breath on it at this point.”
