Roger Federer points out most exciting part about Rafael Nadal exhibition match

Roger Federer can’t wait to see a record crowd turn out for his exhibition match against Rafael Nadal in February.

It was announced this past summer that Federer and Nadal would face off in the latest edition of the ‘Match for Africa’.

The event is organised by Federer, with money raised for the Roger Federer foundation.

The matches have proven to be a huge success over the years, with fans from all over the world turning out to see their favourite sport stars.

This contest between Nadal and Federer will be the sixth edition of ‘Match for Africa’ – 10 years after it was first formed.

But the 2020 match is set to be extra special as they attempt to break the record for the biggest attendance at a tennis match.

The previous record was set at an exhibition match between Kim Clijsters and Serena Williams in 2010 where 35,681 spectators turned out to see the two tennis superstars.

Nadal and Federer are hoping to smash that record, with their match being played at The Cape Town Stadium, which holds a capacity of 55,000.

“I am looking forward to it,” he told Schweizer Illustrierte.

“Being able to play in front of 50,000 fans – and with Rafa, it’s just great.”

Another key part of Federer’s plans in 2020 will be the Tokyo Olympics, where he will be aiming to win a singles gold medal for the first time in his career.

“At the moment, I am still planning like if it was endless,” he added.

“I want to win a medal for Switzerland. And achieving my dream of coming back at the Olympics.

“After missing Rio, I was not sure that I would have felt like this again.

“I did not know if it could have happened.

“And if I could play again for a medal. I want to win for my country. It’s not about completing my career.”
