Roger Federer breaks down in tears at his family after winning 10th Swiss Indoors title

A teary Roger Federer thanked his family after winning the Swiss Indoors for the tenth time in his career.

Federer was too good for Alex de Minaur as he produced an excellent display in front of his adoring fans.

And in the trophy presentation, it all became too much for the 38-year-old father of four.

As his four children watched on in the support box at the side of the court, Federer began to cry and was warmly applauded by the crowd.

Federer said: “I would have never thought to win here 10 times, not even one, so it‘s very special.

“Thank you everyone, hope to see you all next year!“

De Minaur’s defensive skills and effort have helped him to four ATP finals in 2019.

But he had no answer for Federer’s brilliance as the Swiss broke him four times in the match.

Federer told the ATP after the match: “It was fast but very nice. I think I played a great match.

“It was a tough opener at the beginning. The first five games we had some great rallies.

“Then I sort of never looked back honestly. I was great on the offence. Made very few unforced errors, came up with the big shots and served well when I had to. That was good.

“I thought Alex played well, great tournament as well and I think we can both be very happy.

“What a moment for me to win my tenth title in Basel.”
