Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal can only beat Novak Djokovic on one condition – Wilander

Djokovic is through to the semi-finals of the tournament after beating Milos Raonic for the 10th consecutive time.

The Serbian was imperious at times with his only struggle coming when his sight was effected last in the third set.

The defending champion now meets Federer in the semi-finals on Thursday, the 50th time they will play each other.

On the other side of the draw, Nadal takes on Dominic Thiem for a place in the last four on Wednesday.

Following Djokovic’s win over Raonic, Wilander assessed how Djokovic could be stopped from winning an eighth title in Melbourne and had major doubts about the rest of the field.

“I just don’t know what you have to do except hit clean winners,” he said on Eurosport.

“And I don’t see the other guys having that in them unless the temperatures get much hotter and Federer’s serve suddenly becomes a huge weapon.

“Rafa Nadal’s forehand becomes a weapon because of the spin and it bounces high.

Djokovic told Eurosport: “It is going to be the 50th time that we meet on the court. Next to Rafa he’s ben my biggest rival.

“I have tremendous respect for him. We’ve played here on this court many times.

“In a way I know what to expect but whenever we get to play each other, I think we both try to raise our level and we both understand that we have to be at our best in order to win.

“So that is going to be necessary for the winner.”
