Rivian engineers think they can fix that with software.
Lastly, to execute a perfect tank turn, the surface the R1T is on must be perfectly flat, and Rivian is concerned that some drivers might not be able to control the vehicle during the turn.
Meanwhile, the R1T Launch Edition is being built at Rivian’s plant in Normal, Ill., but customer deliveries have not yet started. The company plans to make its first deliveries this month.
Rivian will eventually introduce the tank turn feature once engineers perfect the software to make the maneuver safe, Motor Trend reported. But right now, filling customer orders is Rivian’s top priority.
