Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Lingerie Line Unveils First-Ever Pride Collection

Pop legend Rihanna is ushering in June 2021 with Savage X Fenty’s first-ever Pride Capsule Collection, featuring an assortment of eye-grabbing items ranging from mesh bras and boxer shorts to jockstraps and garter belts.

In a striking ad for the new collection — photographed by Quil Lemons and featuring LGBTQ+ models like Jazzmyne Jay and Dexter Mayfield — the rainbow trims on several of the pieces pop out against a blue backdrop. Especially breathtaking pieces include a burnt-orange jockstrap, a lavender bralette with rainbow Savage X Fenty logos, thigh-high stockings topped with Pride-themed bands, and a kitty whip with a vivid, colorful tail.

“Pride is all about appreciating your authentic self,” Rihanna told Elle. “I am very excited about this collection and showing love and support to the LGBTQIA+ community, which includes so many of our customers, team members, and fans.”

Savage X Fenty first garnered attention during its 2018 launch for its bold designs, colors, and looks. The brand’s inclusivity in sizing options and overall focus on representing a wide array of bodies has also helped propel it to the fashion forefront, instantly skyrocketing it to success at a time when other famed lingerie and apparel lines like Victoria’s Secret were coming under fire for excluding plus-sized and trans models.

Since then, Savage X Fenty’s inclusive fashion shows have featured talent from all walks of life, including drag performers, nonbinary people, trans people, and pregnant people. Last year’s Savage X Fenty 2020 show, for example, featured Pose star Indya Moore, Cara Delevigne, Jaida Essence Hall, and more. (One of the brand’s models, Slick Wood, even went into labor during a runway walk.)

With the new Pride collection, Rihanna’s brand is putting its money where its mouth is. In partnership with the Clara Lionel Foundation, the nonprofit Rihanna founded in 2012 to assist in natural disaster response, and to further commemorate the occasion of the Pride Capsule launch, Savage X Fenty will be making a sizable charitable contribution to LGBTQ+ organizations. In total, the brand will distribute $250,000 between 5 trans and queer organizations: the Trans Latin@ Coalition & Wellness Center, GLAAD, the Audre Lorde Foundation, the Carribean Equality Project, and INC.

To give the collection a boost, Savage X Fenty has also changed its iconic “X” logo across social media platforms to a rainbow-themed version, adding the slogan, “Love is love is love is Savage.”

“This Pride month we’re celebrating every BODY,” the brand tweeted. “But y’all already know.”

Sizing for the new collection ranges from XS to 3X and 30A – 42H, and it’s priced between $8 for items like boxers and bikini briefs and $35 for signature pieces like smoking jackets.
