Richmond time, dispatched: Assessing the Redskins’ sink-or-swim season to come


RICHMOND — Don’t know if you’ve heard this, but Washington took a quarterback early in the draft. 

On such decisions, a franchise sinks or swims. The Redskins begin finding out just what they truly have in Dwayne Haskins on Thursday morning at the Bon Secours Training Center on the first day of training camp. It’s supposed to be 77 degrees and sunny when the team takes the field for its first practice, but there will be figurative clouds just off in the distance for this team all season. Can Jay Gruden, entering his sixth season as head coach, save his job after back-to-back 7-9 seasons, including last year’s swoon after the team started 6-3? Will Derrius Guice come all the way back from his tearing an ACL in his first preseason game last year? Is there a wide receiver on this roster who’ll break out and give Haskins — or Case Keenum or Colt McCoy — a consistent, game-breaking target? Can the defense, whose line looks potentially…
