Report: Trainer Duarte Hospitalized With COVID-19

“Day 8 with #COVID19 hasn’t been easy and not out of the woods yet,” Duarte tweeted, indicating he was at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J. “Keep praying I can get over this strong virus.”

Last year, Duarte took over the Colts Neck Stables string for retiring conditioner Alan Goldberg. He saddled multiple stakes-winning mare Goldwood and Big City Bob, who finished third behind Tiz the Law in the Grade 1 Champagne.

As a jockey, Duarte won 424 races and purses of more than $7 million before retiring to become an assistant trainer.
