Detroit Pistons power forward Christian Wood has been cleared from the coronavirus, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Wood tested positive for COVID-19 on March 14, a week after he faced the Utah Jazz and center Rudy Gobert. The 24-year-old played in the team’s next two games against the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers before the league suspended operations immediately following Gobert’s positive test.
Detroit’s 6-foot-10 forward became the third NBA player to test positive for COVID-19, joining Gobert and Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell. Since then, four Brooklyn Nets players, two Los Angeles Lakers players and Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart tested positive.
Wood is the first known NBA player to be cleared from the coronavirus following a positive test. Gobert remains in self-quarantine and said he has been unable to smell anything in recent days.
According to Johns Hopkins University, there are nearly 70,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States.
