Report: PGA Tour to allow on-site gambling at events next year

“As it is becoming legalized by state in the US, you can either participate or not, and we feel smarter to be participating,” Monahan said.

Does that mean we’ll see the golf equivalent of a horse racing track, with betting slips lining the fairways? Probably not. But in states where gambling is legalized, it seems reasonable to expect some type of centralized golf sportsbook at a tournament site. Currently, 16 states have legalized sports gambling, as well as Washington D.C., with more expected to pass legislation in 2020. The PGA Tour regularly visits five of those 16 states.
