Report: Hollendorfer Back In At NYRA, Planning To Send Horse To G1 Allen Jerkens

Jerry Hollendorfer returned to Del Mar in late July after winning a court battle against the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club to allow him to race and train there

According to the Daily Racing Form’s David Grening, Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer will be allowed to race in at New York Racing Association tracks after all. Hollendorfer told Grening he planned to send a horse to next weekend’s Grade 1 H. Allen Jerkens at Saratoga.

The move seems to be a reversal by NYRA; the organization issued a press release earlier this summer on the heels of Santa Anita’s announcement Hollendorfer was no longer welcome to stable or enter at Stronach Group properties. Days later, Hollendorfer told the Form his attorney received a call indicating NYRA had changed its mind and would not allow him entries (though NYRA did not confirm this to industry media).

Hollendorfer was recently granted a preliminary injunction by a San Diego Superior Court judge allowing him to race and train at Del Mar after the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club carried over Santa Anita’s ban. Hollendorfer’s license in New York and in California has remained in good standing.
