Report: Bruce Allen to be fired from Redskins football operations role

The Washington Redskins are finally making what many feel is a long-overdue change to sort out their football operations.

According to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington , the Redskins intend to remove team president Bruce Allen’s football operations responsibilities by Monday. Allen has non-football roles within the organization, and it is unclear if he will continue to handle those responsibilities.

Allen has been the Redskins’ president for ten years. While Washington has made the playoffs twice during his tenure, he’s only overseen three winning seasons in that period. The on-field failures have been coupled with off-field embarrassments, like the team’s handling of rumors surrounding ex-GM Scot McCloughan. Fan interest is low, and those who still care have turned on the team president.

The Redskins will also be hiring a new coach this offseason. A total overhaul of the football side of things appears to be in the works.
