When the Clippers trailed the Pistons in Detroit 93-82 with 4:51 left to play, they could have packed it in, and maybe that would have been acceptable. Six straight wins, playing on second night of a road back-to-back, entire starting lineup inactive. Offense was big trash all game.
At that point, the #RevengeGame narrative for both Reggie Jackson and Luke Kennard wasn’t coming together. Jackson needed 20 shots to reach 19 points. Kennard was on his way to a 5-for-17 shooting night. The former Pistons guards had the keys to the offense, and the Clippers were on their way to setting a season-low for assists while shooting sub-40 percent from the field and sub-25 percent on 3-pointers.
We’re not going to talk about any of that. Kennard finished with his first career double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds).
