Redskins training camp confidential 2019: Young defensive line takes over unit


The defensive line, for what it counts against the salary cap, gave Washington the best bang for its bucks in 2018. All three starters — Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne and Matt Ioannidis — are 25 or younger and trended up last season. Going into this offseason, the trio is finding healthy competition. Backups Tim Settle, and Caleb Brantley have the coaching staff excited. Will one of the other prospects the team signed do enough to convince coach Jay Gruden to keep a sixth lineman?
