Recent draft video is even more proof that times have changed for the Commanders

The Washington Commanders‘ new YouTube series “Commanders Log” has given fans a ton of behind-the-scenes access to this pivotal offseason for the franchise.

The newest episode focused on the team’s war room during the 2024 NFL Draft. And one exchange, in particular, shows how different things already seem under the new regime in Washington.

The episode showed conversations being had in the room as the team was deciding whether or not they should draft Kansas State, TE Ben Sinnott. Commanders GM Adam Peters didn’t make this decision on his own; he not only consulted his head coach and owner but included offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury in the conversations.

Once Peters knew his offensive play-caller (Kingsbury) was fully on board with drafting Sinnot, owner Josh Harris asked if he would get on the field with Zack Ertz already on the team. Both quickly explained how versatile they believed Sinnott was, with Peters saying, “He can play anywhere.”

This level of teamwork and the entire brass working together from the top to the bottom is a breath of fresh air from previous years. This seems to be a great example of how Peters wants to lead the new-look Commanders. It also shows fans that the team seemed to be in total agreement in drafting Sinnott, which has to be great to hear/see for a rookie.

It’s only year one, and the Commanders haven’t had to experience any real adversity as a unit under this regime. But the vibes surrounding the team are clearly more positive than they’ve been in quite some time. To begin on such a positive note, it is important for the team to reach the goals they have set for themselves.
