Receiver Paul Richardson Jr. is looking to put behind his injury-riddle debut season with the Redskins


ASHBURN, Va. — There’s something about being on the field that when injuries happen, they just don’t hurt as bad. A few months removed from his five-year, $40-million deal with Washington last year, Paul Richardson, Jr. wanted to be on the field showing off all the reasons why he was worth the investment.

So when he tweaked his shoulder in organized team activities last May, he figured he was just sore. He treated it as the kind of thing he’d start to get over or used to. It got better, so he didn’t worry about it any further.

Then came training camp, and he aggravated his right shoulder. This time, it didn’t get better. Instead, it progressively got worse.

Richardson ended up playing half a season because of a clavicle that was broken multiple times, a torn AC joint and a banged up knee. His final game was on Nov. 4 against the Atlanta Falcons, and he had two catches for 16 yards. A day later, coach Jay Gruden announced that…
