GOOD AFTERNOON

Welcome to our live blog of RB Leipzig against Liverpool in the last-sixteen of the Champions League.

Europe’s elite cup competition is back after a two month break, but it can’t have come at a worse time for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The Reds are in the midst of a torrid run of form, having won just three out of their last twelve matches in all competitions.

In his pre-match press conference for this evening’s game, Jurgen Klopp insisted that he does not need a break, despite difficult recent personal circumstances.

Coronavirus restrictions blocked him from attending his mother’s funeral in Germany last week.

The venue for tonight’s first ever meeting between Liverpool and RB Leipzig is the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, as Coronavirus travel restrictions mean Leipzig can’t host their home tie at the Red Bull Arena.

Leipzig come into the first leg this evening in great form, losing just one game in their last six in all competitions.

They’re currently second behind only Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, and secured their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 3-2 win against Manchester United in December.

Kick off is at 8pm and team news is coming up in half an hour.
