  • Rangers currently stand five points behind leaders Celtic in the table
  • Alfredo Morelos missed a penalty in the Betfred Cup final earlier this month

Steven Gerrard has called on his attacking players to step up in Sunday’s Old Firm derby at Celtic Park.

The Rangers manager watched on in frustration as top scorer Alfredo Morelos missed several chances in the Betfred Cup Final earlier in the month, while £7million winger Ryan Kent also failed to influence the outcome as Celtic earned a 1-0 win at Hampden.

‘If we are to get the result that we want, we are going to need our so-called top players, you can name them, all at it,’ said Gerrard.

‘It’s not an environment or a place where you can carry anyone.

‘The good thing about the last game against Celtic was the performance, which got a lot of praise because everyone across the board was up for it and did a job for the team.’

Morelos missed a penalty in the final, and Gerrard added: ‘I’ve decided who’ll take a penalty if necessary and I’ve spoken to him.’
