Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson, once cut by Vikings, signs 4-year contract extension: Source

The Las Vegas Raiders and kicker Daniel Carlson agreed to a four-year contract extension Wednesday, a source confirmed to The Athletic. Carlson’s deal is worth $18.4 million, including $10.2 million guaranteed.

Carlson, drafted in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings in 2018, has made 85.7 percent of his kicks in his career (96 of 112), the 12th best percentage of all-time. He’s 27 of 30 on kicks this season and is coming off the best season of his career in 2020 when he went 33 of 35 including 4 of 4 on kicks of 50 yards or more.

Carlson’s deal makes him the third-highest paid kicker in the NFL based on average annual value behind Baltimore’s Justin Tucker and the New York Giants’ Graham Gano.

Carlson has developed into one of the league’s most reliable kickers since being cut by the Vikings in his rookie season after only two games. Carlson missed three field goals, including two in overtime in a 29-29 tie against the Green Bay Packers.

Punter A.J. Cole also received a four-year extension, The Athletic confirmed.
