Rafael Nadal's Monte-Carlo campaign under threat after Medvedev tests positive for Covid


Rafael Nadal is reportedly waiting to find out if he has to ‘comply with extra coronavirus measures’ after his training partner Daniil Medvedev tested positive for Covid on Monday, just hours after they practised together. The enjoyed a hit at the Montecarlo Bay Hotel and Resort but Medvedev has since withdrawn from the tournament.

The world No 2 said in a statement: “It is a great disappointment not to play in Monte Carlo. My goal now is to recover and I can’t wait to get back on the circuit as soon and healthy as possible.”

Nadal returned a negative test on Monday but it is unclear if there will be any fall-out from training with Medvedev.
