Speaking on Eurosport after the match, Nadal doubled-down on his comments that it was the best match of his comeback.
“Well yeah good honestly super happy about the performance tonight, without a doubt it has been my best match since I came back. I played I think more aggressive, returning inside,” the 20-time Major champion admitted, appearing emotional as he reacted to his statement win.
When asked whether he had any doubts during his injury lay-off, Nadal said: “Every single day.
“That’s the truth. For a lot of months sometimes I went on court, I tried to go on court almost every morning, but sometimes I was on court and I was talking with the team and I was not able to practice more than 20 minutes and other days for 45, and then sometimes I was able to practice for two hours.”
