Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic relationship claim made at Paris Masters

Former British Davis Cup ace Arvin Parmar thinks Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic’s relationship has reached a new level.

The pair played a charity exhibition match in Kazakhstan last week and then reportedly travelled to the Paris Masters together.

During their first day in the French capital, the pair shared a court once more as they warmed up on Centre Court.

However, there is so much on the line for the duo this week as they are locked in a battle for the year-end world No 1.

But Parmar credits them for being able to put that rivalry to one side.

“I think these players are so good at compartmentalizing those sort of things,” Parmar told Amazon Prime.

“Yes they are here to do a job and of course the No 1 spot is still up for grabs.

“If Rafa can win here this week he will secure that No 1 spot at the end of the year. It will be exciting.

“But they are both fresh off their exhibition match last week in Kazakhstan so they would have travelled together to get onto this court here this week.”

Nadal has surprisingly never won the Paris Masters title despite having claimed 12 Grand Slam titles in the city.

“Slightly different conditions [as] Rafa has talked about,” Parmar explained.

“He feels it is a little bit quicker so maybe that will favour the big hitters.

“Rafa has just two indoor titles to his name and his last being a long time ago.

“He struggles indoors and it’s tough for him but there is a lot on the line and it should be exiting for everything.”
