Quiz: The 2019 Baseball Trivia Extravaganza


On the day after Christmas 100 years ago — Dec. 26, 1919 — the Boston Red Sox agreed to give the Yankees the most generous gift in baseball history: George Herman “Babe” Ruth, in exchange for $100,000 and an even more lucrative loan. The Yankees had never won a championship at that point, but they would claim 26 before the Red Sox won their next.

Every serious fan knows this, of course, and those are the fans we seek here, with our third annual Christmas Day trivia extravaganza. For this year’s batch of questions, we have included sections saluting the Mets’ two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom, the Yankees’ soon-to-be Hall of Fame inductee Derek Jeter and, of course, the one and only Sultan of Swat.
