Quarantine Randomness: Why ‘He Got Game’ is the best basketball movie ever


It is confirmed.

I watched “White Men Can’t Jump” to do a podcast with House of Strauss about the film. I remembered it as a fun movie but was a bit disappointed in the rewatch. Clearly, I was much easier to please back then. I’m also the same guy who, after playfully ripping “High School Musical” to my pre-teen, introduced her to “Space Jam” and turned it off halfway through because we were both bored to death. So I’ve gotten harsh on hoop movies in my old age.

Now, “He Got Game,” that’s long been my favorite basketball movie. “Love and Basketball,” “Finding Forrester” and “Hoosiers” are right up there on my list. But “He Got Game” was always tops, for reasons I will explain. But first, I went back to watch it again. It had been awhile.

It’s still tops.
