Posnanski’s Browns Diary: 3 things I think I’ve learned about QB Baker Mayfield


Often in this Browns diary, I try to determine just how well or poorly the Browns played in their previous game. I’m not going to do that today because I can’t tell. It sure seems like the defense should have done a whole lot better against a Bengals team missing virtually every offensive lineman in the greater-Cincinnati area plus their star running back Joe Mixon. But rookie quarterback Joe Burrow is just an absurd talent, so maybe it was more a case of him going to that elite level of unstoppability.

At the same time, it sure seemed like the offense was incredible for the final three quarters, but it has to be said that the Bengals defense is atrocious, and despite my best efforts, I could never figure out their plan on Sunday. They seemed equally uninterested in stopping the run and the pass. So I don’t really know if the Browns were that good or the Bengals were that bad or both.
