Piers Morgan blasts 'spoilt brat' Novak Djokovic after Olympics outburst

Piers Morgan has labelled Novak Djokovic a “spolit brat” after the world No 1 destroyed two rackets during his Olympics semi-final defeat to Pablo Carreno Busta. The pair had taken a set apiece as they headed into a third.

And when Carreno Busta pulled off a magnificent drop shot his Serbian opponent launched his racket into the empty stands.

Shortly after he violently smashed another racket against the post of the net, right in front of the umpire.

After the match Djokovic withdrew from his mixed doubles bronze medal match meaning his country missed out on a medal.

And Morgan has taken aim at the 20-time Grand Slam winner in brutal fashion.

“Pathetic spoiled brat behaviour by Novak Djokovic at the Olympics today – smashing racquets, ranting & raving, & pulling out of the doubles thus costing his partner a medal,” he tweeted.

“He let his team-mates down, his fans down, & his country down. Shameful antics from a supposed champion.”

Djokovic had lost to Alexander Zverev in the men’s singles final and Eurosport pundit Annabel Croft reckons the frustration had been building.

“He was going for that Golden Slam and he was bitterly, bitterly disappointed after that match against Alexander Zverev,” Croft said.

“Going for the bronze medal was not what he wanted, what he came for, but you have to pick yourself up. It’s an unusual scenario.

“Unfortunately for Djokovic, he could not contain his emotions out there.

“It was risky for Carreno Busta to try to get the umpire to give Djokovic a warning as he could have riled him, but he won through.”
