PGA Championship 2022 LIVE: Leaderboard and latest updates as Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods out on course

No problems for Tiger on the third tee as he belts his drive down the middle. Jordan Spieth whips his tee shot right to left and lands a few yards in front of Woods.

McIlroy has a similar idea to swing it in from over the trees and drives it 310 yards or so but again his ball finishes in the thicker cut.

It’s a bogey. His effort for par had the right line but not enough pace and McIlroy leaves it a couple of inches short. He drops a shot to move back to (-4).

Jordan Spieth (+3) and Tiger Woods (+4) are safely in for pars.

McIlroy has a tough chip from the back side of the green as he’s standing above the ball on a slope. He doesn’t catch it quite right and the ball goes past the hole and rolls into the thicker cut. That’s not going to be an easy putt for par.

‘Sit, sit, sit, sit…’ cries Jordan Spieth as bumps his approach to the second onto the front of the green. It’s a good one and slows down enough to leave him with a chance for birdie.

McIlroy has another par to save after he lofts his second over to the far side and just off the back of the putting surface.

After finding the bunker with his approach shot Tiger Woods flicks it out and leaves it within two feet for par. Lovely shot from Tiger.

On the second tee, Woods, McIlroy and Spieth all find the right-hand rough. There’ll be a few tricky second shots coming up, especially with the bunkers around the edges of the green.

Will Zalatoris (-5) tidies up for a par on the second green after his birdie effort swings underneath the hole.

Joaquin Niemann had a very eventful finish with a string of birdies before finishing with a birdie to end the round one-over for the day but (-1) for the tournament.

Oh close! The whole crowd circling the first green were willing the ball to drop as Tiger Woods slides a 40ft putt for birdie right up to the hole.

He settles for par and so does McIlroy but Spieth falls back to (+3) with an opening hole bogey.

It’s a confident chip from Rory who knocks his third shot to within a couple of feet and should knock that one in for a par.

Speaking of pars, Matt Fitzpatrick (-3) gets home with a second round 69 after two scrambling pars on his closing two holes. He’ll be very pleased with how he closed out that round of golf.

Spieth tries a bump and run for his third onto the green but leaves it well short of the hole and looks likely to make an opening bogey.

McIlroy attempts something similar with his second shot from 97 yards but comes up short of the putting surface. Not a gret start for either man.

Woods at least will have a putt for birdie.

Tiger Woods ended up in the rough stuff over to the right of the fairway. His second shot is lofted high and fades around the nearby trees before softly landing on the green.

Jordan Spieth hits a branch as he tries to find a way through the trees and he’ll have a tricky up-and-down to save par.
