Paul George is an All-Star: The five performances that did it for him


Clippers shooting guard Paul George on Tuesday was named to his seventh All-Star Game, and it’s his first since joining the Clippers in the summer of 2019.

George’s selection as a reserve along with Kawhi Leonard being named a starter gives the Clippers two All-Stars for the first time since Blake Griffin and Chris Paul represented LA at Madison Square Garden in 2015. This is the latest step in what has been something of a comeback season for George, who was good in 2019-20 but clearly was working his way back from shoulder surgeries that delayed the start of his season and a hamstring strain that interrupted his January. Terance Mann, who has been George’s teammate in LA for each of Mann’s first two NBA seasons, attributed George’s performance this season to improved health and mentality.
