Oram: Is it time for Lakers to worry about LeBron James’ ankle?


Before the lights dimmed and the appropriate rock anthems played and a curtain was slowly lowered to reveal the Lakers 17th championship banner, LeBron James stood at center court and made the kind of declaration you’d want to hear from your superstar.

“The road to back-to-back,” he said, “starts in about a week.”

Only, that is starting to feel like the problem for the Lakers.

James was still in street clothes on Wednesday night. After a week of reports that said he was set to return during this homestand after appearing in just two games since March 20, James was ruled out yet again.

With just two regular-season games remaining on the schedule, the clock is urgently ticking on the Lakers’ ability to get James healthy.

According to reports, he was supposed to play Tuesday. Then Wednesday.
