On the rocks: Keith Mitchell makes adventurous par at Corales Puntacana

Keith Mitchell had himself an adventure on Friday.

During the second round of the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship, this week’s PGA Tour stop in the Dominican Republic, Mitchell found himself on the rocks on the 8th hole.

Literally.

The course is a sight to behold, right on the beach with blue skies and palm trees all around. The tournament’s website describes the course as having “miles of natural cliffs and majestic coralina quarries.”

Mitchell manuevered down to his ball, saw that he had a decent lie and wacked it off the rocks.

He ended up saving par on the 399-yard par 4 hole. His lone bogey on Friday came on the first and birdies on 14 and 18 gave him a second straight 70. He’s two shots inside the cutline and will play the weekend in search of his second PGA Tour win, thanks in no small part to a little detour.
