Old Forester Colt Tops CTHS Ontario Winter Mixed Sale


The annual Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society Winter Mixed Sale was held Nov. 23 at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion in Toronto, Ontario, where 135 cataloged horses resulted in 70 sold for a total of $344,800 (Canadian), up 120 percent from $156,700 in 2018.

The average increased by 70 percent from $2,902 to $4,926, with the median decreasing by 33 percent to $1,350 from $2,000 in 2018.

Hip 107 a bay colt by Old Forester topped the sale at $72,000. The colt out of the Curlin mare, Thats Our Princess, was purchased by Richard G. Hogan, Agent for Colebrook Farms and consigned by Hill ‘N’ Dale Sales Agency, agent.

Hip 105, a bay filly by Langfuhr selling for $47,000 was the second highest sale price. The filly out of the City Zip mare, Sweet Bama Breeze, was purchased by Zack Cameron, Donald P. Howard & Michael J. Keogh and consigned by Hill ‘N’ Dale Sales Agency, agent.

Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency finished as the auction’s top consignor by gross, with 24 horses bringing $245,000. The operation accounted for the sale’s four most expensive offerings.

Colebrook Farms led all buyers with two purchases totaling $94,000, including the sale-topper.
