Novak Djokovic jogs through city with 10 suited bodyguards in unusual scenes

Novak Djokovic was seen surrounded by bodyguards in bizarre scenes as he went for a run in Astana. The world No 7 is making his debut at the new tournament in Kazakhstan and was joined by around ten men in suits while out running ahead of his opening match.

Djokovic made a winning start in Astana on Wednesday as he needed just 61 minutes to dispatch Cristian Garin 6-1 6-1 for his most dominant win of 2022 so far, dropping the least games in a whole match this season. It was a routine win for the 21-time Major champion, with the more unusual scenes coming earlier in the morning before the match.

The 35-year-old went for a jog in Astana ahead of his clash with the world No 81 but was seen surrounded by multiple men in suits, who circled the world No 7 as he ran before a series of fans could be seen running after Djokovic and the guards.

It’s no secret that Djokovic likes to get out into nature for his workouts, often documenting his time spent in the outdoors on his Instagram account. And the run seemed to pay off for the fifth seed at the tournament, as he advanced to the second round with a straight-set victory later on Wednesday and hinted that he was back to his best form after almost three months on the sidelines.
