No LeBron? No Splash Brothers? So many say they want new playoff blood; will you watch?


Not to put too fine a point on this, but you’re on the clock, NBA fan.

Every day, a lot of you get on Twitter and bray to the digital skies how sick you are of LeBron James, and the super teams that are an offshoot of the player empowerment era at which he is the centerpiece. Others say they’re tired of perceived fawning over the Warriors since 2015, and that Golden State’s acquisition of Kevin Durant in ’16 was a death knell for true competition. Many of you have fostered conspiracy theories for years about the league manipulating the playoffs through its referees to achieve some purported result for the sake of improved TV ratings.

It is time for you to put your eyeballs where your mouths and send keys are.

James and the Lakers, the defending champions and NBA royalty, were dispatched in the first round of this year’s playoffs by Phoenix, a team that hadn’t made the postseason in a decade.
