Nick Kyrgios mimics Roger Federer in entertaining Washington Open clash

Federer invented the SABR move – Secret Attack By Roger – to “add some fun” to his matches.

The manouvre consists of rushing to the service box as the opponent is delivering the ball.

It is an attempt to put off the server while also gaining an advantage by returning much quicker than anticipated.

Kyrgios used the SABR tactic to win a crucial first break point against Kwiatkowski last night.

The controversial Australian went on to claim a 7-5, 6-4 victory and set up a second-round clash with Gilles Simon.

He then took to Twitter to ask: “Where is the sabr on break point?”

And the majority of supporters were positive about Kyrgios copying 20-time Grand Slam winner Federer, with one account sending him the highlight.

“Really enjoyed watching the match. I like that we see things we don’t expect,” said a tennis fan.

“It’s refreshing. Cheers mate.

And another added: “Great game @NickKyrgios. As entertaining as always! Keep it up! Love it!!”

While a further user said: “That was unreal!”

And another person wrote: “Good job kygs.”

During the win over Kwiatkowski, Kyrgios also entertained those inside the ground with a number of outbursts.

At one point in the match the 24-year-old blurted: “That’s the worst serve I’ve ever served in my life.”

And after the first set he exclaimed:“Are you not entertained?”
