NFL punishes Commanders LB Frankie Luvu ahead of Week 12 matchup against Cowboys

The Washington Commanders (7-4) are moving on from the most recent loss to the Philadelphia Eagles (8-2), but the NFL gave star linebacker Frankie Luvu one more reason to reflect on the game after it fined him for unnecessary roughness in Week 11.

The fine stems from a hit Luvu placed on Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith with :44 left in the third quarter. It looked like Luvu grabbed Smith’s facemask, but the referees decided that wasn’t the case after talking about it on the field. He wasn’t flagged for the hit, but he was still fined $11,255, per the NFL’s Gameday Accountability log.
