NFL Draft Evaluation: Could T.J. Hockenson bring balance to the Redskins offense?


With the NFL Draft only a week away, we’re taking a closer look at some of the prospects the Redskins could look to draft in the first round. Today, we move on to Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson. At 6-foot-5, 251 pounds, Hockenson is an incredibly impressive athlete. But how does that translate on the field?

From a receiving standpoint, Hockenson can be a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses. He’s a truly versatile weapon as a receiver. While he doesn’t necessarily have the quickness that a Jordan Reed has, he still has long speed and combines it with great balance and strength to make him a true yards-after-the-catch threat.

Here, Hockenson lines up split out of the formation in the slot to the left. He runs a simple stick route, breaking outside in front of the defender lined up across from him.
