NFC East X-factors: It's all about the game plan in Week 4

CeeDee Lamb proved to be the Dallas Cowboys’ X-factor with seven catches for 98 yards and a score in a 20-15 victory over the New York Giants on Thursday night. But who else will step up in the NFC East?

Kellen Moore (OC) Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia’s new offensive coordinator has two jobs when the Eagles face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a rematch of last year’s NFC wild-card game.

First, he needs to find a way to get the ball to backup wide receivers like Parris Campbell, Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson. With A.J. Brown due to miss his second-straight game with a hamstring injury and DeVonta Smith still dealing with a concussion, passing yards could be hard to come by against the defending NFC South champions.

That’s why Moore should draw up at least 25 running plays for Saquon Barkley, the NFL’s leading rusher. With 351 yards on 63 attempts, Philadelphia’s No. 1 running back has been busy in his first three games as an Eagle but saw a season-low 17 carries in an ugly win over the Saints last week.

Barkley sealed the deal in New Orleans with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns but didn’t see a carry until early in the second quarter. That won’t do against a Tampa team allowing the eighth-most yards (137.7 per game) on the ground this season.
