Newsflash: Edouard is human. But he’s still crucial to Celtic


At first it seemed like this season was going to be one long, uninterrupted broadcast of the Odsonne Edouard show.

Given his soaring trajectory towards the tail-end of last season and after scoring a hat-trick against Hamilton on the opening day of the league last month, the possibilities for the 22-year-old’s season — always underpinned by the premise that he stays this transfer window — appeared endless. Could he get 30-plus league goals? 40 in all competitions? How many free kicks would he score? How many last-minute winners? Will he have his second successive Premiership Player Of The Year wrapped up by February?

It’s not quite panned out like that so far, with his being benched for Saturday’s 3-2 win over Livingston prompting an immediate cacophony of questions. Transfer speculation? A knock?
