Golden Arrows scored deep into stoppage time with 10 men to force a 1-1 draw against Baroka FC in a DStv Premiership clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.
Evidence Makgopa opened the scoring for the hosts early in the second half but Abafana Bes’thende, despite the dismissal of Divine Lunga, scored late through substitute Velemseni Ndwandwe.
Arrows had the first effort on goal in the encounter in the 11th minute when Pule Mmodi did well to fashion a chance but was denied by Baroka goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze.
The home side were then unlucky not to take the lead when forward Richard Mbulu saw his effort deflect off Arrows defender Nkosinathi Sibisi and onto the post.
Chipezeze then made sure the teams were level at the halftime break when he made a great save to deny Siboniso Conco.
The hosts took the lead just three minutes after the restart when Makgopa netted past Sifiso Mlungwana in the Arrows goal.
The winger picked the ball up on the left and weaved his way past a static defence and provided a neat finish to put his team ahead.
The visitors’ chances of getting back into the contest took a turn for the worst just after the hour mark when defender Lunga was given his marching orders for picking up his second yellow card.
Arrows though continued to do all the attacking even with a man less but Chipezeze was in inspired form to deny the KZN-based side.
However, in the sixth minute of injury time Ndwandwe popped up in the box to earn his team a deserved point.
