New Washington WR credits Colin Kaepernick workout for helping him get signed

The Washington Redskins signed little-known former Cal wide receiver Jordan Veasy to their practice squad on Wednesday.

The move comes after Veasy headed to Georgia to catch passes from free-agent NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick for last month’s now-infamous workout. Veasy’s catches from Kaepernick went viral, leading to the Skins signing him mere weeks later.

According to the former undrafted free agent, it’s the Kaepernick workout that helped him get another shot in the pros.

“It helped,” the 6-foot-3 pass-catcher said, via the Washington Post. “That’s one of the reasons I wanted to be a part of it. Just being a part of the history of it, and I knew it was going to help me.”

Veasy obviously is not a household name. He caught just 63 passes for 797 yards in two seasons with the Golden Bears prior to the Tennessee Titans making him an undrafted free-agent signing following the 2018 NFL Draft.

As it relates to Kaepernick, he remains unemployed and has not played since 2016 when he began the national anthem protests.

Despite looking like he still has an NFL-caliber arm, it doesn’t seem like last month’s workout in Atlanta is going to help Kaepernick latch on with a team.
