‘Nervous anxiousness’: Nets players share concerns and hope ahead of NBA restart


On Tuesday, the Nets are scheduled to leave for a road trip unlike any other in the organization’s history, departing for Orlando ahead of the NBA’s restart at Disney’s Wide World of Sports later this month.

The Nets do so amid the novel coronavirus pandemic — with cases surging across the country, including in Florida — and a nationwide wave of protests for racial justice and equality and against police brutality. In the days leading up to their scheduled departure, players shared concern about restarting the season, but also expressed faith in the NBA’s bubble concept and hope that the league is able to further the conversation around the Black Lives Matter movement.

“The word I would use in terms of how I feel would be a nervous anxiousness, just trying to see how everything is going to work,” veteran guard Garrett Temple said. “I plan on being very cautious, I tell you that.”
