NBA Finals survey: Our staff picks winner, MVP, surprises and more


Every year before their ultimate series begins, the NBA puts out a release touting unique and unusual numbers about the Finals. If anything, the 2019-20 season has been unusual and unique and the league is acknowledging it. Here are the first two lines of the email:

– NBA Finals to Be Played at a Single Location for First Time in League’s 74-Year History –

When the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat tipoff in Game 1 in the Walt Disney Bubble in Orlando, Fla., we’ll all be witnessing an unprecedented event. According to the NBA, the Lakers and Heat have spent 85 days in that single location, there have been more than 525 fishing excursions booked and people have played approximately 1,800 games of pickleball. (We admit pickleball is addictive, especially if you punch a two-handed backhand down the line into the baseline corner. Fist pump!)
