Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Phoenix Suns odds and best bets

Minnesota was in Golden State Thursday night and lost. Now they are off to Phoenix to take on the NBA’s best team. That is no easy trip. They have been decent in these kinds of situations this season, (back-to-back, away-to-away) at 2-2 SUATS, but none of that was against consecutive elite teams.

Phoenix is rolling right now. They have some serious injury issues with their bigs but they have been able to fill-in with the likes of veteran Bismack Biyombo and last year’s lottery pick Jalen Smith. It helps that the backcourt duo of Chris Paul and Devin Booker is about as steady as it gets.

The Suns are 11-1 SU and 8-3-1 ATS in January. The only reason to have any doubts about them for this contest is that their depth is not where they want it to be and they are just 11-13-1 ATS at home.

I like the fact that Minnesota is not a joke anymore. However, this team really has only one way to compete right now and that is with their offense. Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards are all score-first players, and that is where they are going to have to lean if they are going to hope to compete at Phoenix. The Suns are a good defensive team, but they are also third in the league in scoring and will be content to play a looser game once they have a comfortable working margin. I hope this one comes down a little, but the over is the play.
