Minnesota Duluth hockey wins NCAA Tournament’s longest game


No. 1 North Dakota and Minnesota Duluth played in the longest NCAA Tournament hockey game ever, a 3-2 win in the fifth overtime for Minnesota Duluth in the Fargo Regional final which ended early Sunday morning.

Freshman Luke Mylymok scored the golden goal to send Minnesota Duluth into the Frozen Four semifinals against Massachusetts. Saturday’s game broke the NCAA Tournament record set by the Wisconsin and Harvard women in 2007. The two teams combined for 119 shots.

Minnesota Duluth is seeking its third consecutive national championship. The Frozen Four is April 8 in Pittsburgh.
