Mike Pompeo Makes Historic, Unprecedented Visit to West Bank Israeli Settlement

One year after the Trump administration stood with Israel and recognized a West Bank settlement as an Israeli Territory, Secretary Mike Pompeo visited the West Bank’s Golan Heights.

This is the first time a top-ranking diplomatic official has ever visited the West Bank Israeli settlement in all of history.

Mike Pompeo, speaking of the historic occurrence, stated “You can’t stand here and stare out at what’s across the border and deny the central thing that President Donald Trump recognized, what the previous presidents have refused to do,’ discussing how the West Bank is a territory of Israel and not a disputed territory. “This is a part of Israel and a central part of Israel,” he continued.

Pompeo reportedly ate at the Psagot Winery, a restaurant known for its scenic views. “Unfortunately, Psagot and other businesses have been targeted by pernicious EU labeling efforts that facilitate the boycott of Israeli companies. The U.S. stands with Israel and will not tolerate any form of delegitimization,” Pompeo tweeted about his visit.

This visit was followed by a State Department announcement about how the U.S. is standing with Israel. “All producers within areas where Israel exercises the relevant authorities – most notably Area C under the Oslo Accords - will be required to mark goods as ’Israel’, ’Product of Israel’, or ‘Made in Israel’ when exporting to the United States. This approach recognizes that Area C producers operate within the economic and administrative framework of Israel and their goods should be treated accordingly.”

The Trump Administration has been standing with Israel since the beginning of Trump’s presidency. In a recent press conference in Saudi Arabia, Pompeo stated “America is a force for good throughout the world, including in the Middle East, other nations will want to come alongside of us and they’ll make the right choices, including the choice to partner with Israel for their prosperity. Every country that wants a better situation for their own people will come along to recognize Israel.”
