Media Circus: TNT’s Ernie Johnson takes to Twitter to teach the next generation


Ernie Johnson is like many people: He’s not used to being idle in March. The month has always been one of the busiest for the Turner Sports broadcaster thanks to his role as studio host for the NCAA Tournament as well as his duties as the longtime host of TNT’s “Inside The NBA.”

Two weeks ago, as he and his family were self-quarantining at home about 45 minutes north of Atlanta, Johnson decided he would pop on Twitter, offering up the simple question: “Who wants to talk?” But then he thought about the cancelation of March Madness and how that affected not only sports fans but all college kids. He thought about young broadcasting students no longer able to take classes around the country. Over the years, Johnson enjoyed speaking to students at the Grady College of Journalism & Mass Communication at his alma mater, the University of Georgia.
